A Spectacle of Culture and Tradition as the festivities kick off with a vibrant parade, symbolizing the colorful tapestry of Japanese culture. Mark your calendars and join us at Saratoga Street and E. 1st St. at 5 p.m., as the parade sets off on a route that ends in front of the iconic Historic Japanese Restaurant Otomisan. This cherished establishment has been serving our community since the 1950s, adding to the significance of the event.
In honoring heritage and contributions during the event, we will pay tribute to the historic brass plaque, now beautifully mounted at the entrance of Otomisan. This plaque commemorates the contributions of our community and serves as a reminder of the resilience and strength that defines us. We are also privileged to unveil the new red paper lanterns generously donated by Irene Tsukada Simonian, owner of Bunkado in Little Tokyo. These vibrant lanterns symbolize our gratitude for the support of the community and serve as a beacon of unity.
Prepare to be enthralled by a stellar lineup of entertainment that showcases the essence of Japanese culture. From the thunderous beats of the Hikari Taiko Drummers to the soul-stirring performances by Neighborhood Music School, every moment promises to captivate and inspire. Don't miss the enchanting performances by Nancy Hayata's Classic Japanese Dancers of Nihon Buyo, Minyo, and Contemporary styles.
